Who We Are
HFG Trust was established in 1983 by the founder and current president of the company, Ty Haberling. Ty started the firm out of college and has been working with members of the Tri-City community for over 30 years. Many wondered how a 25 year old college grad was able to survive in this business filled with experienced brokers and agents. Ty reminisces saying “I was fortunate in my timing. Markets were selling at historically low valuations, financial planning was a new industry and most importantly, my father provided me free rent.” Today, HFG is a fee only practice with seven Senior Advisors, three Associate Advisors, and seven supporting staff. We manage over $400MM in assets for some of the most selfless hard working people in the community. We provide a holistic planning experience coupled with portfolio management. We manage the accounts on a discretionary basis and provide performance reporting along with pre-determined financial planning services. These services typically include retirement capital assessment (Is the client on track?), estate and beneficiary planning, income tax planning opportunities and generational wealth education. We often assist clients with insurance planning although we do not sell the coverage. In some ways our firm is a family office for individuals that have $500,000 to $20MM of assets.
Our firm philosophy is built around preparation. Whether it is in the field of investments or wealth planning, we are aware this industry is ever changing. There are constant reforms in laws and tax codes. Investment climates can shift quickly from bullish to bearish. Most importantly, client goals and objectives develop as they enter different stages of their careers and lives. To be best equipped and prepared to handle these changes, HFG is committed to lifelong learning. Our advisors embody this characteristic by taking on-going education classes and seminars. We understand the myriad of issues, obstacles and concerns of the affluent investor. We have uniquely tailored our firm to service their needs and deliver sustainable long term results.
We believe in a commitment to life-long learning. We also believe the price you pay for an investment determines your future returns. We do not market time and do not diversify for the sake of diversity. There must be a value proposition to any position and asset class we own.
We are dedicated to your client experience and financial well-being.

Your Financial Advisor
Your relationship begins with a financial advisor that puts your interest first. HFG advisors are required to have completed bachelor degrees in either Finance, Accounting or Economics and work their way through the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program. A CFP®, or Certified Financial Planner™ identifies those individuals who have met rigorous professional standards and have agreed to adhere to the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence when dealing with clients. In order to receive this designation, an individual must meet the education, examination, experience, and ethics standards established by the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards (CFP® Board). Therefore, a financial planner who has earned the CFP® marks should be distinguished from a financial planner who has not.
